Snowboarding

Introduction

Snowboarding is a popular winter sport which was developed from the combination of surfing and skateboarding. In this sport you are required to ride on a snowboard which is similar to an over-sized skateboard. The feet are strapped on to the snowboard and you need to control the gravity as you go down the ski slope. Both your feet have to be firmly strapped to the snowboard via high back or non release plate binding.

The most significant of the snowboarding gear consists of snow boots and the snowboard. Ideally snowboard boots are selected based on the level of expertise, size of your foot and your leg shape. The best way of getting the right boots for your feet is by visiting a good snowboard shop. At these shops they measure your feet and help you in narrowing down the choice and selecting the right ones.
Types of snowboards

There are lots of different kinds of snowboards. However the more fundamental ones are the freeride, the alpine, all mountain snowboard and the freestyle. For beginners, freestyle snow board is the best choice, and the reason is that it is wider and more even than other varieties. And more importantly they are shorter, lighter and have a softer bend. If you want to perform tricks in terrain parks and half pipes primarily, you need to get the freestyle snow board. Although the freeride is the most popular snow board, it is basically useful for riding in mountains, half pipe and parks. It can carve through the snow, hold the air and can glide on the powder surface well. The last one, alpine board is also referred to as a race board or carving board. It is narrower than the first two as it is designed to move with higher speeds and allow the riders to perform fast and clean carves and twists.

The all mountain snow boards do exactly what the name suggests. They perform correctly in high terrain conditions and display good performance in an enormous range of riding conditions. This type of snow board is an outstanding board which is a do-it-all type of board and is a perfect choice for riders interested in performing a diverse range of tricks.
Remember, good snowboarding is directly related to your ability to stay nice and warm. You need to select the right snowboarding clothes which can provide warmth and let you have freedom of movement.

Snowboarding in Italy

Italy happens to be a wonderful place for snowboarding and it also is one of the cheapest of European countries for visiting. There are many skiing resorts stretched across the northern region of Italy. And there are more linking with countries close by. The most popular snowboarding destinations in Italy are located in the northern region of the country in the mountains of Alps. Some of them include, Livigno, Passo Tonale, Courmayeur, Alba, Prali Sestriere, Val Gardena and Asiago.

Getting around in Italy

For getting around in Italy, the best way is by road. The reason for this is that they have many remote and small resorts located off the public transport routes. All the snowboarding resorts such as ones in Asiago are close to airports and do not require more than three hours of travelling. The train services however are not very convenient although they are quite cheap. But, they can also land you close to almost all the places. You can also take buses as they are relatively inexpensive as well but are unreliable.
